Looking to dive deeper into this sermon series?

Here you will find questions to explore in life groups or on your own. Each set includes a scripture and some thought-provoking questions to help you unpack the themes of the series and grow in your faith and relationship with Jesus.

Missions - Pray, Give, Go

This June, we’re refocusing on God’s global purpose—calling our church to pray, give, and go. In this series, we’ll explore the Great Commission and how we’re invited to be part of what God is doing both locally and globally.

We’ll hear inspiring updates from our local expressions (Gawler and Pathway) and global mission partners (BWA and BMA), celebrating stories of impact and opportunities to respond.

Let’s be a church that seeks first His mission—at home and to the nations.

Study 1

Pray, Give, Go - Local Mission Gawler | Jason Lippitt

Scripture Reading

Matthew 11:28-30

Questions

  1. How do you 'listen to God'? in your daily life?

  2. Looking at Matthew 11:28-30 (MSG), what does it mean for you to live an 'unforced rhythm of grace'?

  3. Did the light in the dark analogy mean anything to you? Where is God calling you to be a light in the darkness within your life context?

  4. Jesus' answer for a life of earning or life of pleasure is to come to him. What does this mean to you?

Study 2

Pray, Give, Go - Local Mission Pathway | Noelle Wallis

Scripture Reading

Matthew 5:14-15

2 Corinthians 4:5-7

Luke 5:12-14

Luke 7:46-50

Questions

  1. Read Mt 5:14-15

What do you think Jesus meant when he described his followers a city on a hill or a bright light illuminating a house.

 2. Read 2 Cor 4:5-7

A) What’s the personal challenge for us in being a fragile jar of clay?

B) How does knowing there’s a treasure within us allow us to overcome that challenge?

  1. Read Luke 5:12-14

    A) How did Jesus treat the man with leprosy with dignity?

    B) What religious, cultural and social barriers did Jesus break through his interactions with the leper?

  2. Read Luke 7:46-50

     A) How did Jesus treat the woman with dignity?

    B) What cultural and social barriers did Jesus break through his interactions with the woman?

  3. How aware are you that you carry the treasure of God, His love, into all the spaces and places you go each week? Think about the people in your life. Who at your home, workplace or university needs to be seen, heard and treated with dignity. Pray and ask God to bring someone to mind. Invite God’s Spirit into your interactions with this person. Ask Jesus to help you to love them, to see them and to listen to them.

Study 3

Pray, Give, Go - Baptist World Aid | Melissa Lipsett

Scripture Reading

Nehemiah 1:1-4

Questions

  1. Melissa asked you to reflect on doing the best of things in "such a time as this". In light of the times we’re living in, what might it mean for you to respond with faith and courage—to choose what is good and right in your own setting?

  2. How might we, the church, live out the hope of Jesus by doing what is good, even when the world around us feels broken or uncertain?

  3. Is there someone in your life who might be in need of a caring check-in—someone who needs to be genuinely asked, “How are you really doing?”

  4. We heard how Surendra and his church are living out their faith beyond Sunday gatherings—serving others and bringing hope to their community. Who might God be inviting you to care for or serve in your own neighbourhood or community?

  5. Langston Hughes’ words encourage us to consider how we can each help shape a better, more just world. What’s one area of your life where you feel called to bring hope, change, or kindness?

  6. What other lessons can you identify in Nehemiah’s story?

Study 4

Pray, Give, Go - Baptist Mission Australia | Scott Pilgrim

Scripture Reading

Luke 10:25-27

Questions

  1. As you read this familiar story [which culturally in the day was a scandalous, radical story] what stands out for you?

  1. The beaten, injured man in the ditch [v30] represents brokenness and injustice. As you think about your local context who are some people who find themselves in “ditches” of brokenness today?

  1. When you consider the Samaritan man, what stands out for you in the way he responded to the needs before him?

  1. Scott spoke on the weekend about the following A’s:

  • Alignment –are our hearts aligned to the ways and values of Jesus?

  • Availability – are we ready to be disturbed by God’s Spirit and the needs of others?

  • Action – are we ready to move beyond our comfort zones, and take risks, step out in faith as we embrace brokenness in “the ditches’?

  • Advocacy – are we willing to raise our voices as advocates for justice and shalom? As well as helping individuals in “the ditches”, we are called to be involved in the transformation of “Jericho roads”.

Which of these “A’s” do you find most challenging in your life today? Where may the Holy Spirit want to encourage you to take a step forward in embracing this “A” in your life?

  1. Where can you see and give thanks for the role the Clovie community is playing in the transformation of “Jericho roads”?

Study 5

Clovie's 58th Anniversary Service | Celebrating God's Faithfulness | Mike Stevens

Scripture Reading

Acts 4:36-37, 9:26-28, 11:19-26, 15:36-39

Questions

1. What can we learn from Barnabas’ generosity in Acts 4:36–37, and how might that challenge our approach to giving and financial stewardship today?

2. Barnabas welcomed and supported Saul when others were afraid—what risks are we willing to take to show the love and welcome of God to someone who may be misunderstood or rejected?

3. Acts 11:24 says Barnabas was “a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith.” What does it look like for us to cultivate that kind of character in our daily lives, especially in the unseen areas?

4. How do we handle disagreements in the church family like Barnabas and Paul did in Acts 15? What role does loyalty and grace play in conflict resolution among followers of Jesus?

5. In what ways can we live out an “encouraging faith” at Clovie and beyond—what are some practical steps we can take this week to build others up and point them to Jesus?
